Delphinium is a flower that can help us to increase our powers and widen our insights.
Many people who start to develop insight can get bogged down in limited perceptions, feeling that all they see is all that there is to see. It is rather like the problems faced by a Pink Purslane personality, but this time in the region of insight, rather than at the mundane level.
Selective insight can have serious repercussions, both for ourselves and for those who are using their insight to advise others. For safety we need to be able to see as wide a picture as possible. This may not be comfortable for the ego, but it is a necessary part of our personal progress.
Delphinium gently encourages us to widen our horizons, to see that there are many levels of insight and perception. It helps us to gain the courage to go beyond our previous apparently safe boundaries into (for us) uncharted regions.
On old maps they used to mark uncharted areas with such statements as "Here be Dragons", indicating their fear of what might be there. Delphinium helps us to enter the "Here be Dragons" areas of our minds without fear, knowing that all we will discover will be for our benefit.
This essence is included in the Yin composite because this is typically a difficulty with the Yin aspect of our nature.
